Dashboards
Dashboards give you a visual overview of your project’s health, progress, and team activity. Each project has its own dashboard that you can customize with widgets to display the metrics that matter most to your team.
Dashboard Overview
To access a project’s dashboard, open the project and click Dashboard in the sidebar, or press G then D from anywhere in the project.
The dashboard is organized as a grid of widgets. Each widget displays a specific metric or visualization. You can rearrange widgets by dragging them, and resize them to emphasize the information you care about most.
By default, new projects include a starter dashboard with the Sprint Progress and Task Status Summary widgets. You can add more widgets or remove the defaults to build a dashboard that fits your workflow.
Available Widgets
IntuitivePM provides the following built-in widgets:
Sprint Progress
Displays a progress bar showing how much of the current sprint’s work has been completed. The widget tracks completed story points against the total story points planned for the sprint. It also shows the number of tasks in each status (To Do, In Progress, Done) and the number of days remaining.
This widget is most useful during an active sprint to give the team a quick sense of whether they are on track.
Burndown Chart
A line chart that plots remaining work (in story points) against time over the duration of the sprint. The chart includes two lines:
- Ideal Burndown — A straight diagonal line from the total story points at sprint start down to zero at sprint end.
- Actual Burndown — A line showing the actual remaining story points each day based on completed work.
If the actual line is above the ideal line, the team is behind schedule. If it is below, the team is ahead. The burndown chart helps teams identify blockers early and adjust their pace.
Team Workload
A bar chart showing the number of tasks and total story points assigned to each team member in the current sprint. This widget helps managers identify imbalances in workload distribution and redistribute tasks if someone is overloaded or underutilized.
The chart groups tasks by status (To Do, In Progress, Done) for each team member, so you can see at a glance who has pending work and who is nearing completion.
Recent Activity
A chronological feed of the latest actions taken in the project. Each entry shows the action, the user who performed it, and a timestamp. Examples of tracked activities include:
- Task created, updated, or moved to a new status
- Comments added to tasks
- Sprint started or completed
- Members added or removed
- Epic created or updated
The feed shows the 20 most recent activities by default. Click View All to see the full activity history.
Task Status Summary
A pie chart or donut chart showing the distribution of tasks across workflow lanes. For example, you might see that 40% of tasks are in To Do, 35% are In Progress, and 25% are Done.
This widget provides a quick snapshot of where work is concentrated. If a large percentage of tasks are stuck in one lane (for example, In Review), it may indicate a bottleneck in your process.
Weather
Shows current weather and the upcoming forecast for the selected location. Weather data is cached so the dashboard remains useful during temporary provider outages. If the live weather providers are temporarily unavailable, IntuitivePM can continue showing the most recent successful forecast for up to 72 hours before displaying Weather unavailable.
Adding and Removing Widgets
To customize your dashboard:
- Click the Edit Dashboard button in the top-right corner of the dashboard.
- The dashboard enters edit mode. Existing widgets show a close icon in their corner.
- To add a widget, click + Add Widget. A panel appears with the list of available widgets. Click a widget to add it to the dashboard.
- To remove a widget, click the X icon in the widget’s top-right corner.
- To rearrange widgets, drag them by their title bar to a new position on the grid.
- To resize a widget, drag the resize handle in the bottom-right corner.
- Click Save to apply your changes, or Cancel to discard them.
Configuring Widget Settings
Some widgets have additional settings you can adjust:
- Click the gear icon in the top-right corner of a widget (visible in edit mode and on hover).
- A settings panel opens with options specific to that widget. Common settings include:
- Sprint selection — Choose which sprint the widget tracks (current sprint is the default).
- Time range — For activity feeds and charts, set the date range to display.
- Group by — Change how data is grouped (for example, by assignee, by label, or by priority).
- Display format — Toggle between chart types where applicable (for example, pie chart vs. bar chart for Task Status Summary).
- Click Apply to save the widget settings.
Sharing Dashboards
Dashboards are visible to all members of the project by default. The dashboard layout is shared across the team — when an Admin or Owner edits the dashboard, the changes apply for everyone on the project.
If you want to share a dashboard view with stakeholders who do not have IntuitivePM accounts, you can use the Export feature:
- Click the Export button in the top-right corner of the dashboard.
- Choose the export format:
- PDF — A static snapshot of the current dashboard, suitable for email attachments or printing.
- Image (PNG) — A screenshot of the dashboard for embedding in presentations or documents.
- The exported file includes all visible widgets with their current data.
For recurring reporting needs, consider setting up a Virtual Colleague that generates and delivers dashboard summaries on a schedule via Slack, Teams, or Email.
